Fallen empires and things like that

On Thursday morning, I wandered around the Roman ruins in Lausanne with Maddie.

The ruins are part of the ancient Roman trading settlement called Lousanna which was established around 15 BC. You can read more about the history of this area at the city's website.

Eventually they were abandoned and covered up...then found again and excavated and now they're a wonderful tourist destination.


(Above) Maddie and I jumped around the walls for a bit, and (Below) puzzled over the strangely shaped pine cones.
