Commune, port, popular lakeside resort...

Like Ann Arbor, Lausanne has various neighborhoods, each with their own sense of identity and charm. The part of Lausanne in which I live is called Ouchy and, unlike the neighborhoods of Ann Arbor, used to be an autonomous municipality of sorts, complete with its own castle. Now, it's part of the city but is still famous for various reasons in its own right.
(Above) Though perhaps not "life-sized" as some guidebooks bill them, the oversized chess sets are popular among the distinguished gentlemen of the town.

(Above) There is also a variety of activities for children, including this swing-set and jungle-gym beyond.

(Above) Also popular is the carousel which includes a selection of pastel ponies and a neon candy truck.
